Gemma Ries is one of Nova's peers, a member of the same class of potential hosts to be chosen by Eden. She also works with the city post office, along with Kai, who is her closest friend.

As a baby, she was left on a couple's doorstep in Aridean. Gem has distinctive markings, that appear to have been inscribed onto her at a young age. These markings resemble dark tattoos of markings of The Forgotten Ones in appearance. These symbols have caused her to be the target of endless bullying and harassment throughout the years, which has caused her to retreat inward, becoming brash
